The GCSE course we follow at CBEC focuses on the development of children from conception to the age of 5.
Students’ knowledge and understanding of all aspects of Child Development are developed. This is a practical work based qualification suitable for all those interested in working with children.
The GCSE is made up of three mandatory units:
Unit 1: Child Development short tasks: these are internally assessed and externally moderated and form 30% of the total GCSE mark.
Unit 2: Child Study Task: This is internally assessed and externally moderated and forms 30% of the total GCSE mark.
Unit 3: Principles of Child Development: this is externally assessed by a 90 minute written examination which contributes 40% towards the total GCSE mark.
On this course, students will carry out independent research and be involved in the planning, completion and evaluation of practical work.
